OVERHAUL: Changes take effect in just over a month's time. |
The company said its alterations, which will take effect from Sunday, June 4, are designed to make the network more efficient.
Among the main changes are that the No 71 will now only run between Chelmsley Wood and Sutton Coldfield and the No 72 will be limited to trips between Chelmsley Wood and Solihull.
Under the new arrangements, the No 94 will use Chester Road and Moorend Avenue between Smith's Wood and Chelmsley Wood and it's understood it will bypass Cooks Lane, which could have implications for some students travelling to the CTC Kingshurst Academy.
The No 966 is to be axed, with passengers having to use a new 96 route between Erdington and Chelmsley Wood and the X12 'Platinum' service for the section between Castle Bromwich and Solihull town centre.
Other routes affected include the No 14, 55 and 70.
Some travellers have already made the point that the shake-up will mean that they now have to catch more than one bus.
Timetables and route maps are yet to be made available, but further details of the various changes can be found here.
More confusion for the passengers but as usual...we just don't matter at all
ReplyDeleteNo consideration for the pensioners in the areas affected. They are the ones who rely on the busses the most, it's not fare
ReplyDeleteSo how many additional 71 buses are you putting on then? There's two schools on Cooks lane and one single decker every 20minutes just won't work.
ReplyDeleteThere will be no additional 71s.
DeleteClaribels 94 will still use Cooks Lane and serve the two schools every 12 minutes. As many people as possible, who don't want to be on overcrowded 71s, should use Claribels 94. Claribels do not agree with the changes, so won't be changing there 94.
Anyone who has a National Express bus pass should cancel it and purchase a NWM N bus pass for use on all bus companies including Claribels -

my wife and i 75 and 77 visit solihull hospital on a regular basis we use the 71.now we will need to use two buses.who are the changes meant to help.Kingshurst is now without a direct bus into solihull.just what we need
ReplyDeleteSo... A sub standard service will now become abysmal.... Well done... Yet another company with a useless planning department
ReplyDeleteWhat have we done on Cooks Lane to deserve this treatment? There are so many pensioners along this road whose lifeline is the 94 bus between Chelmsley Wood Centre and the City Centre. There are also 2 secondary schools along here. Why are the public never consulted?
ReplyDeleteClaribels will still serve Cooks Lane and the 2 schools, Claribels do not agree with these changes.
DeleteClaribels have a frequent every 12 minute service on the 94.
To use this service cancel any National Express bus pass and purchase a NWM N bus pass for use on all operators including Claribels -

What a joke!!! How about asking the public first as it's them who pay the extortionate fares!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke!!! How about asking the public first as it's them who pay the extortionate fares!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSerious? Are you taking the mick? Its bad enough it takes so long to get to and from town to work as it is but now its going to make it even harder!!!! In regards to the public who have been asked? Coz to me it seems youve made everything a million times more confusing than it needs to be. So unimpressed. I pay nearly 60 a month and its going to make my journeys god knows how long more!!!! Annoyed doesnt come close!!!!
ReplyDeletei totally agree with you. its more then 60 pound for a bus pass. now people will start using taxis more because most people will be late for work
DeleteSo yet again you are reducing the 71&72! Do you have any idea how busy these buses are? (Clearly not)
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when there is no room for all the buggies? It's already a wait for the buses now!
What happens during school time? These buses are already rammed throughout the day!
Do you have any idea what it is like being a person with disabilities already having to get the bus? I have to have a seat, or i can't ride! I look fine but i'm not! Now i'll have to fight to get on 2 buses?
What about people with mental health problems? Do you have any idea of the impact on them?
What about people on low incomes or benefits, now they'll have double the money to pay?
You are supposed to be encouraging people to reduce their carbon footprint, this is having the opposite effect, look at the facebook pages! People are going to take their cars, motorbikes even taxis than take the bus- and who can blame them!
An already hour johrney and you want to split it into two?
I'll be joining them, i won't be keeping my busspass if this goes through.
far play girl. your right 😃

How do I get to Heartlands Hospital then?
ReplyDeleteWere are you travelling from? The changes to the 73 take place from June 4th. If you are travelling from anywere between Heartlands Hospital and Solihull you will have an improved service 73, dropping you of at the main stops outside the main Heartlands Hospital enterance (were the 28, 28A and 97 stop) at an improved 20 minute frequency.
DeleteFrom the City Centre to Heartlands the 73 will be withdrawn completely, most areas it serves currently on that section aren't to far from the 97.
